CIMO - The Centre for
International Mobility
The Centre for International Mobility CIMO belongs to the Europe-wide information network called Euroguidance and acts as the Euroguidance Centre in Finland. The main aim of the Euroguidance activity is to ensure that anybody interested in studying and training abroad will have equal access to information on international mobility opportunities. Guidance counsellors working in education and employment sectors play an important role in offering professional help and support for those opting for studying, training or working in another country.
The national cooperation network of Euroguidance Finland cooperates with educational advisors in employment offices and guidance counsellors in educational institutions nationwide. The task of the Euroguidance centre is to contribute to maintaining and developing the professional knowhow of educational advisors on mobility related issues.
The study abroad advisory services belong to the educational and vocational information services in the Finnish labour administration. For this purpose the Euroguidance centre works closely together with 21 big multi-service employment offices covering the whole country and providing support to smaller employment offices in their respective region.
In the education sector, CIMO´s Euroguidance services are targeted at guidance counsellors in the lower and upper secondary education as well as at universities and polytechnics offering degree programmes and in-service training for guidance counsellors.
Training and information provided by the Euroguidance Centre to these groups of guidance counsellors serve the purpose of giving them a basic readiness to deal with young peoples' international mobility options.
The Euroguidance services offered to the guidance counsellors include:
- publications e.g. Guidance in Finland booklet
- powerpoint presentation about the guidance and counselling services that
are offered by the Finnish education and labour administrations
- web services for multicultural counselling
