HUNGARY

National Resource Centre for Vocational Guidance
European network.

In Hungary, the National Resource Centre for Vocational Guidance (NRCVG) started its activities in 2000. The institution operates as a member of the Euroguidance international network, in the frame of the Leonardo da Vinci programme, run by the European Commission.

The establishment of the NRCVG dates back from 1992. Since that time, EU member and candidate countries have created their own centres. Today, more than thirty countries are involved in the job.

The National Resource Centre for Vocational Guidance of Hungary is a department of the Csongrád County Labour Centre. As a member of the European network it helps to give international recognition to Hungarian schools. Through the international contacts, our goal is to provide foreign students with the opportunity to continue their studies in Hungary and to give the Hungarian youth the chance to attend European education and training institutions. NRCVG reinforces the European harmonisation and promotes the mobility of the European citizens.

Target groups

According to the conception of lifelong learning, the National Resource Centre provides information indirectly for each level of the society, and directly mainly to the institutions dealing with carrier guidance and counselling, such as pedagogical institutions, information counselling departments of the labour centres, other counselling services and the members of the NRCVG network.

Activities

Collecting and disseminating information about the training, education and trainee possibilities available in the member countries:

Information can be found in our library and on our website www.npk.hu about:

  • education, world of labour, social security and counselling services in the most European countries;

  • national and European databases;

the Hungarian education system, training possibilities and conditions of studying in Hungary.

Our services concerning mobility and recognition of qualifications:

You can get information on the exchange programmes for students and teachers, scholarships, conditions of travelling and staying abroad. We hold also face-to-face counselling and are available by e-mail and phone.

Participation in the national and international information events:

  • The NRCVG appears at exhibitions of career orientation and other similar events in Hungary. Our colleagues gain experience on international career guidance and counselling at conferences and study visits abroad.

  • Establishment and maintenance of educational databases:

  • On the website of the Hungarian NRCVG national databases of the secondary and higher education courses are available. They include detailed information on the institutions, dates of the entrance exams and the types of the training.

  • The Ploteus Portal, created by the European Commission and updated by the NRCVG network, contains training opportunities and useful information on thirty European countries. The Portal deals with the following subjects: learning opportunities, educational systems, exchange programmes and living conditions in these countries and is accessable on the http://europa.eu.int/ploteus Internet address.

Lay-outs

With our lay-outs in Hungarian and foreign languages we provide widespread information for our clients. We have published leaflets about the NRCVG services and a comprehensive portfolio with the title of "Information about Hungary” in Hungarian and English. It introduces our educational system, the world of labour, fields of social security and availability of the national counselling services.

Our layouts about our education system and higher institutions help students from abroad to find an education institution in Hungary.
We have prepared a lay-out also about the "Higher education programmes offered in foreign languages in Hungary.”
Each brochure can be found on our website.
