Slovenia
NRCVG Slovenia has two main functions:
- connecting institutions which prepare suitable informative material,
- preparing informative material
Acquiring information in NRCVG is based mostly on collecting existing material and less on the actual preparation of material. NRCVG prepares informative material and databases for fields where such material does not exist, but the main priority is to connect, collect and distribute existing information and material. NRCVG is supposed to prepare only information that does not exist (e.g. organisation of writing vocational descriptions).
It is sensible to collect or prepare a great part of information about vocations, job markets, education, training, etc., in one place. In this way expenses are reduced and funds can be used more effectively. This is especially important in Slovenia due to its size. Nevertheless, it is reasonable to collect job descriptions, video-presentations of jobs and certain information of national importance (such as information about universities, studies, financial aid, etc.) in one place.
NRCVG operates as a network and connects different organisations and institutions which prepare or collect information; it is a centre that co-ordinates the flow of information between separate partners and users, as well as providing services (professional support) to vocational and information centres and other users. NRCVG does not directly counsel visitors to vocational information centres.
All locations, which will be part of the national network and be available to clients, will receive the information package that they wouldn't be able to compile themselves.
Other tasks of NRCVG in Slovenia are as follows:
- form quality standards of vocational information,
- form quality standards for operation of vocational information centres,
- heed that quality standards are carried out,
- train counsellors and other employees in vocational information centres,
- take care that centrally collected information is up-to-date,
- advise on establishing vocational information centres about: location problems, arrangement and equipment of premises, human resources, start and operation .
Co-operation of partner institutions in NRCVG
The organisation of NRCVG is different in each European country. In most countries NRCVG was established by the ministry that deals with employment and the ministry that deals with education since the activities of the centres are assimilated with education as well as employment. The conditions in Slovenia are very specific because ESS has been developing the function of NRCVG since the beginning of the pilot centre. In Slovenia it is impossible to carry out such an activity without professionals with lot of experience and know-how in this field, developed within the framework of the Employment Service of Slovenia. In spite of this, it is necessary to ensure co-operation between partner organisations and institutions at the national level.
